Hey Friend! Yes you amazing person reading this right now! You may have a couple of tabs open in your browser and you are working on five things at once. You may be tick away from losing it because you love people and you hate saying no or just one negative word away from quitting your business or Job. There is a weight on you and most of it is inside you telling you that you are not capable of doing it. Or maybe you have heard negative words for way too long from others or maybe it’s you who are telling yourself these lies. You have so much to accomplish and time seems to get shorter and shorter and the list keeps getting bigger and bigger. You are trying to make it and find where you need to go but the second you feel you are getting closer something else happens. A test or something that shakes things up.
I have great news for you! IT IS ALL LIES!
I want to tell you we have all been there we all have stress and we all at times have a short fuse and lose it. We wouldn’t be humans if we didn’t. I remember those early days of starting a business everything was so new to me. Working a full time job and being involved at my church everywhere. It was overwhelming and I was almost going insane. It is hard to manage building a business and figuring out processes at the same time. Some of us are extremely motivated or if you are like me you feed off of other peoples energy and have sporadic moments of wanting to kick butt.
Stop it! I know what your thinking… Its tough, yes it is but you whether you know it or not have a lot of people around you that love you that want to do things for you that want nothing more than to see you happy. They see the stress and it messes with so many areas of your life but when is the last time you took a mental break and did nothing? When was the last time you gave a friend or family member an opportunity to be a blessing? I know if you are like me you hate asking people for stuff but the truth is. We need people as much as we hate to ask and think it is a burden. We do not do things for rewards in return. We do this to serve others and to have an opportunity to bless someone. So don’t take away someones opportunity to be a blessing.
- Make a business plan.
That includes everything from start to finish in your business sit down maybe even with a friend or with yourself and think and write out from start to finish how it is going to work.
2. Make a life plan.
Set time aside for yourself when your mind is not doing anything meditate think about happy thoughts and take a job or a walk. For me that includes exploring. Netflix is more of a band aid and often does not help because we are still stuck at home.
3. Expect the unexpected.
In life we have a perfect idea in our minds how things are going to play out. Even if you are free spirited or analytic you will find that things change and often at the last minute. Being in the big city has its good and bad. What I learned is that things change all the time. All of a sudden your 30 minute drive can be over an hour based on time of day and traffic. Someone may not make it because of traffic. So many things can happen in life and it is important to be okay with things not going your way. Part of life and this journey we are on is that we face challenges and God gives us the ability to grow in unexpected ways and it is never going to go the way we want but in the perfect way that he wants. It’s what builds character and we can either go with it and accept the challenge or we will go through it kicking and screaming.
4. Seek Help.
There are quite a few levels to this but most importantly we are all different. Some of us shut down when we are stressed and disappear from the world. Some of us seek out help. However you may be, I think at any level it is important to seek help from really great friends. Most of them want to listen and many will even have the time to pour life into you. Instead of sitting in your misery and beating yourself up hating life.
5. Seek Wisdom/Take it one day at a time
Before you call that friend or that person you have in mind if you are a believer like me this is where I challenge you. It is the last thing we do when we feel like this. Pray and read scripture. Lots of time we bypass that and we give someone else the power to encourage and lift us up and in reality when you do that you are giving someone the power to destroy you as well. Maybe you didn’t have a great day or you had an argument. Words can have an impact on you and that person no matter how loving or close they are they can totally hurt you in ways you never wanted. Go to God first, cry out and surrender your stress. In Matthew 16:33 Jesus is talking to his disciples and he says this ” I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart. I have overcome the world. The thought of that should give us freedom and peace that no matter what we are not alone. Philippians 4:6-7 says- “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Isn’t that amazing and the peace of God which is unimaginable will guard our hearts and our minds. We have no idea what goes on at times and stress is a real thing. There are so many ways to deal with it but my friend I am always cheering for you. I am always rooting for you and I am always praying for you. You got this, I believe in you!
