Maria and Mark had the most beautiful Robbins Lodge Wedding in Davie, Florida! It’s been a little while now, but since these two wonderful people got published on DIY Weddings Magazine, I had to wait a short time to share. See the feature here, where Maria shares some planning advice and details about the wedding! They were also featured in the September issue (25) of their online magazine.

Thank you Maria and Mark for sharing your story and letting me be part of your day!

Once upon a time…

There was a boy named Mark and a girl named Maria. They attended the same church for several years, yet they never crossed paths. Until they both joined the same small group. One Saturday during the group as Mark was sitting across from Maria, the strangest thing happened. It was like a veil was lifted from in front of her and she saw him and something told her “this man is going to be your husband.”

Sometime later he invited her to go out and they went to Jersey’s Wings for dinner and then ice skating at the Pines Arena. Little did he know she was great at skating so she didn’t need to hold onto him for support. As a matter of fact, he had to keep up with her!

As they spent time together, they talked about everything and got to know one another as friends for the first two weeks. They talked about their values, their past experiences, current goals, future goals, what they were looking for in someone, their pet peeves, and everything in between.

First kiss

One day, Maria wanted to go to the beach and was going to go with a friend but Mark overheard her conversation and her friend suggested he take her instead. He took her to a little pizzeria where they enjoyed great pizza before a walk on the beach! It was chilly and windy, but it was a perfect evening, as that is when they shared their first kiss! Sunday October 28, 2012 became the official start of their romance.

Over three years, they have been on many adventures together such as graduating college, going to the Orlando Parks, experiencing Halloween Horror nights for the first time, biking the trails of Shark Valley and kayaking at the Oleta River State Park. As well as going to events like Hillsong concerts, sporting events, the Nutcracker ballet, and even a rodeo. Participating in paintballing and in an obstacle course race. Visiting a winery and the zoo. Traveling to Key West, Tampa, St. Augustine, New York, and Brazil.

Trip to Brazil

When in Brazil they visited many places and saw many sights. But there was one that stood out above all the rest, the Sugarloaf Mountain (Pão de Açúcar) which they visited on June 12, 2015.

As they were enjoying the beautiful views upon the mountain, the occasion called for a group picture with the family. Maria was asked to take a selfie with the family and as she looked at the screen to take the selfie she saw a big banner being raised.

The banner had a picture of her and Mark on it and it said, “Maria will you marry me?” she couldn’t believe her eyes! It left her breathless!

Out of excitement she almost put the phone down without taking the selfie, but Mark said, “Take it, take it!”

So she took the selfie and then began to cry happy tears. Mark got on one knee and asked her to marry him, and of course she said, “yes!”

Their happily ever after starts with an intimate Robbins Lodge wedding on April 23rd, 2016.

Special thanks to all the amazing and talented vendors. You all are amazing!
